To celebrate the end of our rugby and touch year, we are holding our final training of term as a Christmas special for everyone (including the girls touch and contact) on Saturday 2nd December on the Padang. There will be awards presented, candy canes and chocolate aplenty, and we are hoping that we might have a special visitor joining us for the younger age groups – ho ho ho!

All teams will be playing on Saturday morning, except for the U11 who will be at Marlborough College for the MCM Straits Tournament, and the U17 who are taking part in the curtain raiser game before the SRU league games kick off on the Padang from 1:00pm.

The timings for training and the field layout on the Padang on Saturday are are as follows:

There will also be burgers, hotdogs and bacon rolls for sale, as well as a bar stocked with the essentials (tea, coffee, beer and wine!) from the Singapore Cricket Club (cash and credit card accepted).

For non Singapore Cricket Club members, parking for the Padang can be found nearby at Parliament House, the National Gallery or the Esplanade.

There’s non-stop rugby on the Padang this Saturday so stick around after training for a fun day! After our Christmas training, our U17 are taking part in a curtain raiser game at 12:00PM before the men’s teams kick off for the SRU League games. There are 3 SCC teams playing with lots of ex Academy players, as well as coaches present and past. There will be a BBQ and bar available all afternoon, and a kids play zone.

Good luck to our U11 squad who are heading up to Marlborough College in Johor super early on Saturday morning for the MCM Straits Rugby Tournament – fielding a team in both the U11 and U12 categories.

For those taking the bus, it will leave at 6:00AM sharp from car park at Dempsey Hill near De Paulo Restaurant – so please don’t be late!

As we come to the end of our 2024 rugby and touch season, we have a number of players who are celebrating the completion of their 10th year training with the Academy. Congratulations to:

Jasper Nathan
Rory Read
Daniel Curran
Jake Curran
Harry Curran
Phoenix Kay
Isaure Langlois

One of the highlights of being a member of the Academy is watching the children grow with their teams! With dad David coaching the team since 2014 when they joined, it’s been wonderful to watch the Curran triplets’ rugby journey over the last 10 years!

In the photo below of the victorious U6 team at the SCC Rugby Academy Cup final in 2014, the team includes the Curran boys (and dad David!), as well as Sam Webb who has just completed his 12th year at the Academy!

Looking for a holiday camp for your kids this December? The SCC are holding two football camp on 4th to 7th December, and again on 18th to 21st December. The camps are open to non SCC members.

Please contact Wendy Foo at the SCC – or 9046 9150 for more information or to register.

With the hot and humid weather, it’s very easy to become dehydrated, especially if you have been on holiday in cooler climates and may not have acclimatized yet. This is particularly so for the young, and those partaking in outdoor activities – such as rugby and touch!

Dehydration affects our brain’s ability to regulate body temperature, and by the time we experience actual thirst, our brains are already partially dehydrated.

Please make sure your children hydrate well before they come down to training, ensure that they have a full water bottle with them, and encourage them to take sips regularly even if they don’t feel thirsty. If they run out of water, there is water pitch side where they can refill their bottles.

If your team is taking part in games or tournaments, we would kindly ask that you ensure that your child is wearing their full and up-to-date kit. They must wear the latest playing jersey/touch tops which have our sponsors latest logos on them. Please keep the old tops with the old logos just for training.

We need to honour our sponsors contribution and support by wearing the tops that they have sponsored for us.
