Newsletter – Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th January 2018 – Week 3

Congratulations to five of our teams who took part in the Marlborough College Malaysia tournament, especially to the U11, U12 and U14 teams for winning gold medals! All three teams did not lose a match all day. A great start to the new season!

Marc and Zoe Leaver will be relocating to the UK later in the year and as such we are looking for someone to help out as touch mum or dad on Sunday mornings. This includes asking new girls who come for trial to sign waiver forms, handing out touch jerseys to the new girls who register and noting their player number, and helping the Academy administration chase termly training fees. Kindly contact Sarah Finley on if you would like more information and are interested in helping out.

Training fees for Term 1 are now due. To check how much you owe for your child, please go to their TeamSnap profile and select the Payments tab – fees due for this term are indicated there.

Please note that on your TeamSnap “home page”, it will show that you have no fees due for “Registration” – you paid this when your child first joined the Academy. You need to select your child’s team, and then the Payments tab, to find this term’s Training Fees.

Please note that we have introduced a late payment charge. A 10% charge will be added to all unpaid fees after the 4th week of term – for this term, the late fee will come into effect on Friday 9th February 2018.

We now accept PayPal through the TeamSnap application. Just go to the Payments tab on your child’s profile, and you will find the fee amount due and a link for PayPal if you would like to use this service. Please note that the PayPal link can only be found in the web version of TeamSnap, and does not show on the app version.

Alternatively, you can also pay by bank transfer. Details for a bank transfer are as follows:

Account Name: The Rugby Academy Ltd

Account No: 0339049654

Bank Name: DBS

Branch Code: 033

Swift Code: DBSSSGSG

Please reference your child’s name and age group on the payment.

We do not accept payment of training fees by cheque or cash.

The Singapore Cricket Club are running a one day program that will immerse your child into the world of robotics and the basics of aerial photography. Kids will get to tinker with electronics and setup their own basic drone. They will pair it with their mobile device and then step into the directors chair to plan, coordinate and capture their very own drone footage.

Teams of trainers will facilitate inter team competitions to test out their skills putting theory into practise. Finally, participants will be introduced to the advancement of drone technology and experience the capabilityes of an advanced model used by amatuer drone enthusiasts.

The SCC Drone Day Challenge is aimed at children 8 years old and above, and will be run on Sunday 28th January from 9:00AM to 4:00PM at the mini fields at SCC Dempsey (just below the clubhouse).

With the cancellation of the KL Saracens tournament, we will be organizing an Academy tour to the KL Tigers 10s tournament, which will be on the weekend of 21st and 22nd April (this is the first weekend of Term 2 2018).

The expression of interest form was sent out last week. Please drop a note to Sarah at if you did not receive it. Please note that this is an indication of interest only and does not guarantee a place on the squad – KL Tigers will confirm  how many teams we can submit, and each squad is limited to 15 players. Also, the coaches will choose a squad from those who have indicated their interest on the basis of attendance and attitude at training sessions held.

All players who register interest must be fully registered members of the SCC Rugby Academy, and all training fees must be up-to-date.

With the recent rainy conditions, please make sure you check our Facebook page for the status of training if there is heavy rain, and/or thunder and lightening.
