Newsletter – Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th April 2019 – Week 1

We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to training this Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th April. We hope you all had a good break, and are looking forward to getting back to rugby and touch.

With the HSBC Rugby 7s played in Singapore over the holiday, we were honoured to host a rugby clinic with rugby legends Waisale Serevi and George Gregan, who came down to Dempsey to show us some great tips and tricks. Check out the photos of the clinic on our Facebook page.

The tragedy in Sri Lanka has sadly taken lives from one family at Tanglin Rugby Club. The SCC Rugby Academy would like to express our deepest condolences to our friends at TRC and to all the victims. We are thinking of them.

In their memory we will have a minute silence at practice on Saturday and again before JRCS league games over the weekend. Please tell your children we will be doing this.

The rugby community will come together on Sunday at the Asia Pacific Dragons game at Queenstown Stadium for a Super Rugby game. Please try to attend and wear your club colours as a mark of respect. (Some league games may clash with this).

Entry is free for children under 14, and $20 for adults. Kick off is at 3:10PM, but there is a TRC game being played before this as a mark of respect for the family.

Tickets for adults can be purchased online to help ease queues – http://bit.ly/APDs2019Tix

TRAINING THIS WEEKEND

This Saturday there is no training for the U8 and U9 age groups as they are taking part in a JRCS Mini Tournament at Centaurs.

There is also no training for the U12 who are playing a JRCS game at TRC on Saturday morning.

HAVE YOU LEFT?

If you have left Singapore, or your child is just taking a break from the Academy this term, please don’t forget to drop a note to Sarah at info@sccrugbyacademy.com so we can update TeamSnap and the team lists.

TRAINING FEES DUE FOR 2nd TERM 2019

Training fees for Term 2 are now due. To check how much you owe for your child, select their team under My Teams on the dashboard page, and then the Payments tab to see their listing.

Please note that on your TeamSnap “home page”, it will show that you have no fees due for “Registration” – you paid this when your child first joined the Academy.

You need to select your child’s team (under My Teams), and then the Payments tab, to find this term’s Training Fees.

LATE PAYMENT CHARGES

Please note that unfortunately we have had to increase the late payment charge as the number of late payers has been increasing each term. A 15% charge will now be added to all unpaid fees after the 4th week of term – for this term, the late fee will come into effect on Friday 24th May 2019.

PAYPAL

We now accept PayPal through the TeamSnap application. Just go to the Payments tab on your child’s profile, and you will find the fee amount due and a link for PayPal if you would like to use this service. Please note that the PayPal link can only be found in the web version of TeamSnap, and does not show on the app version.

Alternatively, you can also pay by bank transfer. Details for a bank transfer are as follows:

Account Name: The Rugby Academy Ltd

Account No: 0339049654

Bank Name: DBS

Branch Code: 033

Swift Code: DBSSSGSG

Please reference your child’s name and age group on the payment.

We do not accept payment of training fees by cheque or cash.

CONTACT RUGBY IS FOR GIRLS!

So come and give it a try!

We are starting a Girls Contact group during Saturday morning training for girls from U10 to U16. The squad will be coached by the Captain of the Singapore Nationals 7s team, Marah Ishraf, who brings a wealth of experience with him. Beginners and experienced players are welcome!

Drop Sarah a line at info@sccrugbyacademy.com if you think your daughter might be interested, so we have an idea of numbers.

WELL DONE LUCAS!

We are very proud of Lucas Marolf, SCC Rugby Academy U17, who wrote a wonderful article about the Dubai Rugby trip in November 2018, and the fund raising that he and his fellow team members organised. The article has been published in the Children’s Cancer Foundation quarterly magazine and we would like to share it with you.
