WILL SKINNER JOINS THE SCC RUGBY ACADEMY LINE UP
In addition to John Brake joining our rugby coaching team, we are pleased to announce that Will Skinner, Commercial Director of UFIT, has joined our team as an Ambassador for the Academy as part of our partnership with UFIT. As a figurehead, Will will help us promote the Academy, in addition to being a coach mentor and providing specialised coaching sessions.
Will joined the Leicester Tigers after leaving school where he played professional rugby for four years, as well as representing both England 7s and the Barbarians. Will then moved to Harlequins Rugby Club where he was based for a further ten years. After one year at Harlequins, Will, at twenty-three became the youngest ever captain in the Premiership and went on to captain the club and England ‘A’ for a further three seasons.
Unfortunately Will suffered an injury whilst playing for Harlequins in 2013, which prevented him from continuing his professional rugby career, but after having studied for a degree in Business with the Open University and undertaking a number of internships during his time in rugby, he decided to make the transition into the commercial side of the club . Will became Harlequins Head of Sales and Business Development in 2014 before leaving for Singapore in 2016 where he is now heading up all commercial and brand activities within UFIT, Singapore’s largest independent fitness community.
Will will be attending training on Saturday 16th September with John Brake, and will be taking the opportunity to introduce himself to the coaches, parents and players. Please look out for them and say hello!
UFIT BOOTCAMPS AT DEMPSEY – SATURDAY 23rd AND SATURDAY 30th SEPTEMBER
Stuck for something to do while you stand on the sidelines during training? Get fit while your kids get fit! UFIT have kindly offered to organise free bootcamps for parents at training on Saturday 23rd September and Saturday 30th September.
The first UFIT Bootcamp will be held this Saturday 23rd September from 8:10AM for approximately one hour. The following weekend the session will be a bit later in the morning, at 9:30AM, to allow those who come down later to attend.
The bootcamps will be held on the mini pitch just next to the clubhouse (where the older age groups hold their warm up sessions).
COLLECTION OF PRE-LOVED ITEMS FOR CHILDREN IN MANILA
We will be having another collection of quality used items to send to the Cararoo Foundation in Manila. This charity helps disadvantaged children by supporting them through their education and after school activities.
Collections will be held this Saturday 9th September, and Saturday 16th September up at the club house at Dempsey. For those who attend Touch training on Sundays, please hand your items to Zoe down by the pitch.
Please don’t bring in after this date as we cannot store items.
What to send?
Good quality sports kit and equipment (which will fit in box)
Kids clothes
Small games or children’s books in English
Please make sure they are clean (especially shoes and boots), and of good quality – things your own child would be happy to have second hand!
BOOT SWAP
To coincide with the Cararoo collection, we will be holding boot swaps both this Saturday 9th September, and next Saturday 16th September. If you have any boots at home that no longer fit, just bring them in and swap them for a pair that do! Any boots that are leftover will be sent to the Cararoo Foundation.
PLEASE COULD YOU TIE THE LACES OF YOUR BOOTS TOGETHER TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR THEM TO REMAIN A PAIR!
