KIT – NO KIT THIS WEEKEND AT DEMPSEY
As all the SCC Rugby Academy crew will be at the Padang organizing the finals of our tournament, we are afraid that there will be no-one at Dempsey to hand out shirts to the new joiners. We will be back as normal on Saturday 19th November with tops to hand out.
PITCH MARSHALL VESTS

Many of you will recall the lovely hi viz vests that all staff, pitch marshalls and visiting parents had to wear when entering the SCC Dempsey playing fields during the COVID training era!
If you still have one of those vests at home, please could we ask that you drop it back to us at training. We will be collecting them at the F&B Hut.
IMPORTANT – MICROSPORIDIA HEALTH ADVISORY
With the recent very wet and muddy conditions, we would like to remind parents, and players, to ensure they wash their faces with water after playing in muddy conditions.
Microsporidia are spore-forming single-cell intracellular parasites. Since the early 2000s, microsporidia keratoconjunctivitis has been increasingly reported in Singapore, mostly after eye contact with wet soil or mud during outdoor activities. The main presenting signs and symptoms are eye redness, pain/foreign body sensation, photosensitivity and blurred vision.
All players who have been in contact with soil or mud should maintain good personal hygiene. We would encourage the children to bring extra water to wash their faces if they come into contact with mud, and to use different towels for the face and body immediately after training. If your child will use them, you may wish to keep eye drops in your children’s bag so they can apply them after training.
Do seek early medical consultation (e.g. an eye specialist) should your child experience symptoms such as itchy and painful red eyes with discharge occurring from two days up to three weeks after being in contact with soil or mud.

WEBINAR: WHAT DOES THE UK AUTUMN STATEMENT MEAN FOR YOU?

Later this month the new UK Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, will deliver a full Autumn statement. It’s widely expected that his announcements will include tax rises and spending cuts, and it’s clear that for the next several years we can expect to see the tax landscape shift to help offset the financial issues shaped by the pandemic, rising global inflation and the cost of living crisis. Understanding how these anticipated tax increases might affect you will be crucial when planning your own finances.
In this webinar Peter Webb, our Head of Tax Advisory, will run through the main points announced in the Autumn statement, and explain what you need to be aware of to avoid being caught out in a changing tax environment.
What can I learn from this webinar?
- What new changes have been announced
- How the Autumn statement will affect you
- Actions you may be able to take to reduce the impact of any changes
- What the current financial situation means for your wider wealth planning
There will also be plenty of opportunity for Q&A.
Two sessions are available to suit your time zone. Please choose the most suitable and register online to receive the webinar link.

KIT FOR GAMES AND TOURNAMENTS
If your team is taking part in games, please ensure that your child is wearing their full and up-to-date kit. They must wear the latest playing jersey/touch top that they were given which have our sponsors latest logos on them. Please keep the old tops with the old logos just for training.
Our sponsors have generously stood by us despite the trying times of the last 2 years, and we need to honour their contribution and support by wearing the tops that they have sponsored for us.
