Newsletter – Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th November 2017 – Week 11

After two long weekends of rugby, our tournament is over for this year. And what a tournament it was with great performances by all our teams.

The Cup finalists played in front of the packed stadiums at the SCC7s and we had some great results.

The U15 had a very tough game with some crunching tackles against the Centaurs Archers, but came out the victors to win their age group for the 2nd consecutive year.

The U13 were very much in the driving seat in their game against Dragons Green, but they still ended the game with the bang, when as the final whistle blew, Louis Cook grabbed the ball from under Dragon’s nose on the SCC try line, and ran it the length of the pitch to score a final try.

The U10 played an intelligent, structured game to dominate Dragons White and record a 25-5 victory, and took home a well deserved trophy.

The Touch U12 played superbly against the ever mighty TRC Touch and held them off to a tryless game for both sides. Coaches from both sides agreed that the girls had played so well that they would share the win.

We can’t emphasize how grateful we are to those who volunteered to help out at the tournament over both weekends.

At our main tournament, our pitch marshalls worked long hours despite the heat to help keep the games running smoothly. We could not have run the tournament without you.

And last weekend, our professional Cone Crew – made up of Richard Cook, David Griffiths, Marc Leaver and Rob Le Grice, divided up the pitch and layed try lines in less than a minute with military precision. What a team!

Kit pick up will be back at Dempsey as normal this weekend. Please don’t forget to drop by the clubhouse to pick up your Paladin orders.
