Hopefully many of our SCC Academy players have already met and been coached by Suhaimi Amran and Bryan Lim, SCC Rugby Academy’s Head Coaches. Their role is to assist other coaches and provide some excellent support and advice through their rugby experience and vision for the Academy. Both Bryan and Su have been the Academy’s head coaches for a while now, but we thought we would give you a little background on their playing career and hope you agree how lucky our kids are to have the benefit of their experience.
We were lucky to secure the services of Suhaimi Amran around a year ago when he joined the SCC Academy as one of our head coaches. Suhaimi has played rugby at a very high level representing Singapore in the Men’s 15 squad from 2005, and playing in Singapore Men’s 7s side from 2005 to 2013. Among his other rugby accolades is a bronze medal at the SEA Games 7s in 2007, Asian top point scorer 2011-2013, and a nomination for Singapore Sportsman of the year 2012. He plays fly half and scrum half and has been playing for the SCC rugby section for 11 years. He says he’s looking forward to inspiring the up and coming young players at SCC Rugby Academy.
Bryan Lim is a familiar face at the Academy and has been with the club since it began nearly six years ago. He fell in love with the game while a pupil at the Anglo Chinese School (Barker Road) and has been playing ever since. He was awarded a place at the Anglo Chinese Junior College through Direct School Admission for Rugby. Bryan represented Singapore U16 in their Northern Territory Australia tour in 2005 and played for the Singapore Select side in Sabah in 2014. Bryan joined the SCC club as a Junior Sports Member in 2005 when he was 15 and has played at least a 100 games for SCC rugby section. His second home (maybe first?) is the rugby pitch and when he’s not playing he’s coaching!
